Dr. Makama Saleh Aliyu
About / Bio
Makama, S. A. was born to the family of late Alhaji Makama Aliyu in the year 1980. Hails from Kiyawa, Kiyawa Local Government, Jigawa State, Nigeria. He obtained his first, second and third degree from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Nigeria, Bayero University , Kano, Nigeria and University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Karnataka State, India. He holds PhD in Agricultural Economics
Currently, he is working with the NAERLS, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as Agricultural Extension Specialist I. His research, training and outreach experience cut across the areas of Agricultural Economics and Extension programs.
Dr. Makama has worked as IFPRI Local Collaborator/Consultant for Kaduna State, Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Project, 2019; sub-consultant for the GEMS4 2016 rice mapping exercise that was conducted in the country (Nigeria); Lead Consultant, Extension Service Delivery Support IFAD-CASP Farmer Field and Business School (FFBS) for Wet Season, Jigawa State, 2021; Sub-consultant Agricultural Economist: Consultancy Service for the design and supervision for the development of 3.000Ha Dansoshiya Grazing Reserve, Kiru Local Government, Kano State 2021; Lead Consultant, SAA Project Validation and Evaluation of the Agro-Processing Enterprise Center Model Implementation across Gombe, Jigawa and Kano States, 2022; Consultant, UNDP/GEF Endline survey for Jigawa and Gombe States, 2022 among others. He isa Farm Management Association of Nigeria (FAMAN) member. Also, participated in a number of research among which include; Training Needs Assessment of Water Users Association of Bakolori Irrigation Project (2010), Baseline Survey for Gangara Birds Multipurpose Cooperative Society (2011), Agricultural Performance Survey, (2012), Irrigated Crop and Seed Production Systems under Water/Irrigation Management in Sub-Saharan Africa; NAERLS-ICBA Project (2012-2015), Agricultural Performance Survey, (2011, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022) and Participated in the Rice Value Chain Analysis in Nigeria 2013/2014, participated in the livelihood survey of the dry land areas of the Great Green Walls 2016. Tutored in a Training workshop on poultry and fish production organized for Unemployed youth in Northern Nigeria by KRPC (2011-2014),
To his credit, he has more than 25 journal papers published in a pair reviewed local and international journals, about 11 conference proceedings.
