The Procurement Unit of the National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS) today carried out the official opening of the Expression of Interest (EOI) and pre-qualification documents for the execution of its 2025 Capital and Zonal Intervention Projects. The event took place at the ICT Building Conference Hall of the Institute, located within the NAERLS, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) premises, Zaria.
The session, which brought together contractors, observers, and key NAERLS personnel, marked a critical step in the procurement process for the implementation of various agricultural development projects across the country.
Welcoming participants to the event, the Executive Director of NAERLS, Professor Yusuf A. Sani, commended the contractors for their interest in partnering with the institute to drive agricultural growth and development. He emphasized NAERLS’s long-standing reputation for excellence and warned against substandard execution of projects.
“NAERLS is known for quality jobs. We are not just about completing projects—we are about impact, sustainability, and ensuring that the resources invested translate into tangible benefits for Nigerian farmers,” Prof. Sani stated. “We will not accept any shallow job or compromise on standards.”
The EOI and pre-qualification stage is a transparent mechanism designed to assess the capacity, experience, and technical qualifications of interested contractors and consultants before awarding contracts. The 2025 projects are expected to focus on agricultural infrastructure, extension service strengthening, and farmer empowerment across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
The event was conducted in compliance with public procurement regulations and witnessed by representatives from civil society, ensuring transparency and accountability in line with federal government guidelines.
NAERLS, a frontline agricultural research and extension institute under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), continues to play a pivotal role in linking research outputs with end-users, particularly smallholder farmers, through its outreach, training, and development initiatives.
Further announcements regarding successful contractors and project commencement dates are expected in the coming weeks.
