The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Kabir Bala, has appointed Professor Yusuf Ahmad Sani (an agronomist) as Executive Director of the Institute, with effect from 1st November 2024. Until his appointment, Professor Sani was the Deputy Director to his immediate predecessor, Professor Emmanuel Ike Ikani, between November 2020 and October 2024. Prior to this also, he was the Assistant Director (Extension and Training) during the tenure of Professor Mohammed Khalid Othman, from 2016 to 2020. The official handing over event (between the outgoing ED and the new ED) took place on Friday 1 November 2024 in the ED’s Office, at the headquarters of NAERLS, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Y.A. Sani is a professor in Agronomy, with specialization in Horticultural Production. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture in 1995, MSc in 2003 and PhD in 2010 from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He is a member of several professional bodies and has several publications in reputable national and international journals, and numerous research/technical reports to his credit. He is also a Lecturer/ Researcher at the University, where he is actively involved in teaching, training, research and extension services. He attended several international conferences and trainings across the globe.
