E-Extension

The Department of E-Extension was created in January 2017 to respond to the changing dynamics of Agricultural extension and position NAERLS to lead in this regard. The approach is hinged on leveraging on the advances that have been gained in the ICT sector in the country to help deliver agricultural extension services (information and training) via electronic channels/tools. The integrated information and communication technology (I.C.T) approach brings in a total shift from the traditional extension service delivery that was time consuming, expensive to run and had a limited reach.

The Department is set to ensure food security through adoption of smart modes of mass communication to reach end users. This will help transform agriculture in the country with new integrated approaches to extension services. E-extension will help in transformation of extension service into pluralistic, demand driven decentralized value chain and market driven by giving farmers information needs localized and customized which is adapted to local users.
